The Digital Notch Indicator developed by M/s Laxven Systems is a Micro Controller based for
use in Electric Locomotives to indicate the position of notch engaged, in seven segment
digital form in both the cabs of the locomotive to the driver. The system also has indications
for half notch struck up below or above the notch position and DJ trip indication (with notch
indication where the DJ trip took place). This digital notch indicator can be used for both ABB/
GANZ type.
The events like DJ trip, Half Notch struck up, Power ON, Power off Conditions are stored in
memory with real date & time stamp in a non volatile memory. The system can store up to
10000 events (First In First Out). This data can be down loaded to the computer with special
software developed by M/s Laxven systems.
The Digital Notch indicator is provided with CAN BUS to share the information of the notch
position with other electronic devices having CAN BUS facility, working on the locomotive.
The system is powered from DC voltages available in the locomotive. For Electric
Locomotive, it is suitable for the voltage variations between 70V DC to 140V DC.
The mounting positions of the transmitter and indicators are exactly maintained as that of
ECIL’s transmitter & indicators for interchanging and retro-fitment. The same wiring and
numbering is maintained to avoid confusion among the shed staff while installation and
commissioning.
The Digital Notch Indicator conforms to the RDSO specifications. Laxven has also developed
the test equipment and calibration tools to calibrate the Microcontroller based digital notch
indicator.
